Jason Porto’s Walk Off HR Caps So Cal Bombers Come-from-behind win at Walsh

Jason Porto capped a 4-run 7th inning, come-from-behind victory for the So Cal Bombers over the Quaker Riversharks, Saturday morning. Porto had two homers in the game, driving in 4 of the team’s 6 runs in the dramatic 6-5 win.

Colin McKenzie, on loan from Prince George picked up the win, scattering 8 hits and striking out 9, while Glen Ormsby added 2 hits to the cause. The Riversharks are the #7 ranked team in the ISC World Rankings, the Bombers # 19.

The So Cal Bombers will join an elite field of teams at the Bob Walsh Tournament this weekend. The Bombers are currently ranked #18 in the ISC World rankings, and take on 6 teams with Top 10 rankings, looking to rebound from a disappointing Rose Cup outing.

[Allentown, PA]-The 6th Annual Bob Walsh Memorial Classic for Men’s Major Fast-Pitch Softball gets under way this Friday, July 22nd at Patriots Park in Allentown, PA. Scheduled start time is 7:00 pm with Circle Tap of Denmark, Wisconsin pitted against Keating’s Fitness of Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. The 9:00 pm game features The Farm Tavern of Madison, Wisconsin taking on Keating’s Fitness.

The Lehigh Valley will once again play host to the best teams in the United States that Men’s Major Fast-Pitch has to offer. Six of the eight teams traveling to this year’s tournament are ranked in the Top 10 in the world by the International Softball Congress (ISC)

So Cal Bombers to ASA Major Tournament, August 4-6

The So Cal Bombers, who are playing in the Bob Walsh Memorial Tournament in Allentown, PA this weekend, will open the ASA Major Tournament in Altamonte, FL in two weeks, August 4, 2005, at 8pm EST against Team Iowa. Ah, yes, that would be Sonny Perkins and company. The winner of that game would advance to play the winner of Tampa Bay Smokers vs. Keating Fitness at 2pm EST on Friday, August 5 ,2005.

Vancouver Challenge Schedule for July 29-31, 2005

Editor’s note: This tournament features a rematch of Broken Bow and the Vancouver Grey Sox, two teams that met just a month ago in Portland at the Rose Cup Tournament where the Grey Sox upset the Bow on a 3-run HR by Kevin Schellenberg. . The two teams meet in pool play at 1pm PST Saturday.

Vancouver, BC

The Draw for the 4th annual Vancouver Challenge Fastpitch Tournament is set. There are two divisions of three teams. The teams will play round robin qualifying games within their divisions. The top two finishers in each division will have two lives in the playoffs while the 3rd place finishers will have one life.

The tournament features the two time defending ISC Champions, Broken Bow Spirit, as well as the Calgary Smokers who are hot off a 2nd place finish in Orillia on the weekend. The 2004 Canadian Champions, Saskatoon Aspen Interiors Black Sox, the Black Bears from Prince George, BC, Van City of New Westminster, BC, and the host Grey Sox round out the field in this prestigious event. The weather has been perfect the last two weeks in the scenic city of Vancouver – sunny and 75 degrees F – and we are anticipating more sunshine and some good crowds for the Vancouver Challenge.
