Wednesday, April 19th, 2006

From the SoCal ASA website: Click this link for schedule info

The second tournament of the season gets underway this weekend once again in Palm Springs. With the rain out of the Amigos Spring Classic, Palm Springs and Vicki Oltean hope to make it 2 for 2 with ten teams in the A/B classifications and seven teams in the C classification. Both Champions of last months tournaments, the Panteras and Palm Springs Express, will be leading the fields in their respective classifications. Games will once again begin at 9:00 AM on Saturday with Sundays single elimination starting at 8:00 AM. Remember that there is only a grace period for the 9:00 AM on Saturday ONLY, all other games will start on time or ahead if possible.

Also, Mesquite Ave. is still under construction and you cannot make the right hand turn off of Gene Autry Trail. If you are coming in from the Highway 10, make your right at Ramon Road and go to El Placer Road and make a left. This will drop you off at by fields 7 & 8 Make sure that you give yourself plenty of time to get to the fields, especially if you play on diamonds 5 & 6. Those are the diamonds without the snack bar building. Fields 7 & 8 are the fields with the dirt parking lot and snack bar building.

In addition to the single elimination games, the So Cal Bombers and Lumberkings will play a best two out of three on Sunday morning on field 7.

Las Vegas Summer Slam (June 9-11)

Thursday, April 13th, 2006

Las Vegas, Nv.

Due to park rehabs, NASCAR, Spring Break and Little League, the popular Spring Swing Fastpitch Weekend has been transformed into the SUMMER SLAM Fastpitch Weekend.

The round robin tourney will take place in America’s Fastest Growing Community, Summerlin, at the base of Red Rock National Park in the Willows Community. This years’ event will take place June 9-11, 2006 on two fields and will be able to accomodate 12 teams total, six A/B and six C teams. Current plans are for a 5 game guarantee for $350.00.

David Bell, formally of the Las Vegas Hitmen and KHT Pumpers currently with the Long Beach Black Sox is the tourney director. The weekend will be sanctioned by three associations and act as a qualifier for two of the three’s National Tournaments. Rosters must be filled out prior to arrival.

Concessions & t-shirts will be sold with the games being played in a park like setting complete with community swimming pool and several play areas for the younger kids. Teams will play a minimum of one double-header, possibly two in their five game set. Best record in division will determine each division’s champion.

Any questions please contact me at the sites below.

Thank you,

David Bell
