#20 CR/Portland at Casa Trejo Palm Springs Classic

Thursday, May 25th, 2006

From Al’s Fastball:

May 20/21 in Palm Springs, CA

The CR/Portland squad would like to thank Ralph Trejo and the SoCal Bombers for a great weekend of ball in beautiful Palm Springs, CA. The fields, hotel, pool and scenery were very nice. I would recommend any teams looking to get out of the cold and play some early and stiff competition to plan for Palm Springs in ’07.

Relying on solid pitching from Mike Piechnik, Mark Bennett and Roberto Bahler, the team managed to win all 3 games Saturday, earning a bye in the first round of Sundays elimination. Saturday scores:

CR/Portland………2
Lumberkings………1
W-Mike Piechnik
L-Sonny Perkins

Slow Start for #8 Circle Tap

Wednesday, May 24th, 2006

From Al’s Fastball: CT in Palm Springs

The Circle Tap Fastpitch team ventured to the West Coast for it’s first games of the season and came away with an extremely dissapointing 2-3 mark. There were positives to come out of the weekend however, most importantly getting some games in and getting most of the guys together for the first time. First off I want to thank Chris Miljavac, Marc Benjamin, Tommy Gray, and Rob Scheller for filling in as we were missing a few players due to coaching and work commitments, i.e. Kyle Magnusson, Kevin Reichardt, Todd Malnory, and Jamie Knudson. The weather in desert was a very nice 101 when we landed Thursday night, can’t ask for a whole lot better than that. Thanks to the SoCal Bombers and the Trejo group for putting on a very nice event and giving us a chance to see some teams that we don’t normally see until the Worlds.

#18 Pueblo Bandits Palm Springs Classic Report

Wednesday, May 24th, 2006

From Al’s Fastball: Pueblo Bandits Palm Springs Classic Report

Pueblo Bandits Palm Springs Classic Report The Pueblo Bandits management and players would like to extend a WARM thank you and congratulations to the SoCal Bombers s for a job well done on and off the field this past weekend in Palm Springs. Triple digit temperatures and a couple of key plays in the final are all that prevented a perfect weekend for the Bandits. While missing Cliff Wisdom and Mark Moziejko on the weekend the Bandits came together in the field and at the plate to show they are poised to improve on their twelfth place finish last year at the ISC and to prove their initial #18 ranking this season may be a bit low.

We created a small travel league which has kicked offthis year with it’s first two successful weekends inRoosevelt, Utah and Laramie,Wyoming. The partnership was created with the NSA due to the fact that we as the RMFA did not have the time or resources to run a top flight national tournament. This partnership has proven to be a mutually beneficial endeavor for all people involved. Our website will be www.woodbat.org This websiteshould be up and running in the next two weeks. We will have a list of bat manufacturers and bat types that have already been tested in men’s fastpitch play. We will also have the entire Rocky Mountain Fastpitch Association contact information.
